Pipestone Vineyards practices environmentally friendly grape production producing handmade Estate Grown Rhône-style wines from Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, & Viognier and a dry-farmed Zinfandel.

Taste the difference! Our family farm utilizes solar power, horse-drawn plowing, natural pest control as well as the principles of Feng Shui. We overlook the Templeton Gap which brings cooling evening ocean breezes to our sunny terraced hillsides. Shallow, rocky, calcareous soil, combined with our microclimate, produces wines of intense flavor and aroma.

Pipestone Vineyard wines are available ONLY direct from our winery! Please see our shipping section for order and shipping information.

SOLD OUT!
2015 Viognier Barrel fermented sur lie in seasoned French Oak. 100% Estate Grown. We picked it dangerously ripe to accentuate our typical intensely perfumed exotic tropical fruit flavors. It has aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, wildflowers, tangerine peel and fresh pear. Bottled early to emphasize its lively character, we recommend you enjoy it within a few years of the vintage to fully appreciate its youthful charm.

With two days of cold-soak skin contact this Provençal-style Rosé has a beautiful pale copper/salmon pink color and is full-flavored, with a balanced crispness and fruitiness, a touch of spiciness, and aromas of ripe strawberries, peaches, and raspberries. Pair it well chilled with a BBQ or anything spicy. This is not your Mother’s Rosé!

2014 Grenache 100% Grenache Noir – the dark one from France! The classic based for southern Rhône wines, bottled here alone in all its glory! Dark ruby color with loads of bright red-fruit flavors: red and black cherry, dark plums, raspberry, boysenberry. And some very interesting spices: cinnamon and a touch of cardamom come to mind. Most of our Grenache goes into our traditional Rhône blend but we bottled a few barrels solo so you can enjoy its purity.

Awards: U.S. National Wine Competition Winner; Bronze. Orange Country Fair Winner; Silver. Stephen Tenzar Review; 88.

2011 Mourvèdre Late ripening and a pain to grow, but worth it! I love its gaminess and the depth of complexity. Mourvèdre is the third leg of the great Chateauneuf du Pape’s from France’s Southern Rhône climate. It gives the blend a gamey, wild berry, herb de Provence aroma. 2011 is a library selection that has been perfectly cellared at the winery. Age has brought out some of the deeper and more interesting gamey and minerally Mourvedre character. For Mourvedre lovers!!!

Awards: Affairs of the Vine - 1st Rhone ShootOut Winner; Silver Medal. Stephen Tenzar Review; 90.

2014 Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon The Aussie-style blend! If crazy Australians can blend these two Noble varieties together – then so can we! A marriage of the smart and classy Bordelaise and the sensuous laid-back Mediterranean. Glass and teeth staining deep purple. Earthy mineral aromas integrated with flavors of currant, mocha, and wild berry with a great concentration. Lingering finish. Will improve greatly with 6-9 months bottle age and should age well for at least 5 years.

Awards: JamesSucklings.com; 90. San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition; Bronze.

2014 Estate Syrah Grown on a south-facing hillside in the Estate Vineyard were it basks in the summer sunshine. It was hand-harvested and then fermented in small open-topped fermenters. We punched down by hand and gently pressed our “modern” Basket press, to gently extract only the smoothest tannins. Aged in French and American Oak Barrels for 24 months, the wine is a deep purple-black with aromas of spicy blackberry, smoke and even bacon fat! The velvety tannins support a strong acidity. Built to Last!

Awards: U.S. National Wine Competition Winner; Bronze. Stephen Tenzar Review; 90.

It exudes all the warm and sensuous flavors forged by our warm and sunny Mediterranean California climate. The wine is a deep garnet color with aromas of bright red cherries, black currants, blueberries, meaty game, and classic provençal herbs and burnished smooth tannins. 2012 G-Squared Our is a Grenache-based blend of fruit from two distinct areas of our Estate Vineyards. A new blend created to celebrate our daughters, Grace and Gwendolyn, who worked these areas of the vineyards, leaf-pulling and shoot-thinning to let the sunshine in and to produce superior quality fruit. Enjoy our new label design and cheers to college tuition!

2010 Work Horse Red Our blend celebrates our working team of Draft Horses, Betty and Bobby. They till the land enhancing the structure and tilth of the soil, helping to conserve it for the next generation. Percheron and Morgan; French and American, big boned but shorter and stouter; friendly and calm, but strong and industrious; they are perfect for the vineyard. 100% Estate Grown. 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache Noir, 10% Mourvèdre, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Viognier. Aged 18 months in the barrel. Great now with hearty dishes with tomato base, stews, or southern French spiced dishes. 2010 was the last wet year in Paso Robles (Like 2017!). The wine has aged beautifully. The cool summer produced a wine with greater brightness and high end fruit than most vintages. An excellent expression of the entire vineyard.
